US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, said on Tuesday that the United States does not have a date for a possible Israeli military operation in Rafah, adding that he expects to see Israeli officials again, next week, to discuss the situation in Gaza.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with his British counterpart, David Cameron, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Blinken said that the United States continues to work closely with Qatar and Egypt to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
He added that 400 trucks were allowed to enter Gaza on Monday, which is the largest number of trucks to enter the Strip since the October 7 attack, calling for the need for aid to reach the north and not just the south.
He said: “Israel has made important commitments to facilitate the entry of aid into Gaza.”
Regarding the ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of the hostages, Blinken said that Washington will make “a serious offer to Hamas and it must accept it.” While the Israeli media revealed that Tel Aviv is awaiting Hamas’ response to the broad outlines of the American proposal.
Blinken also said in previous statements on Tuesday that Arab countries are not keen to participate in the reconstruction of Gaza if the Palestinian Strip will be “leveled to the ground” again in a few years.
Blinken called for the need to address the issue of establishing a Palestinian state, according to Reuters news agency.
Blinken told CNN: that. with me. During an interview in Davos: “You must solve the Palestinian issue.” He added: “The Arab countries are saying this: We will not interfere in matters, including, for example, the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip if it will be razed to the ground again within a year or five years and then we will be asked to rebuild it again.”
