Today, Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, announced that the ministry had assumed responsibility for 5 governorates, indicating that the evaluation was successful, while confirming that there were no weapons smuggling operations across the border with Syria.
The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, said, during a meeting within the activities of the Al-Rafidain Forum, attended by Al-Rasheed: “The Arab Interior Ministers Conference is important, as it was held in the presence of all Arab ministers,” indicating that “the conference has offices in all Arab capitals, in addition to the presence of a training body specialized in training.” Research and exchange of experiences.”
He added: “We attended Tunisia for two days, and a number of matters were agreed upon, including combating drugs,” pointing out that “before holding the conference in Tunisia, a regional conference was held in Amman with a number of countries and focused on combating drugs and borders between countries.”
Regarding drug control, Al-Shammari confirmed, “A regional conference was held in Baghdad, attended by directors of drug control agencies,” pointing out that “a lot of narcotic pills enter across the border.”
He continued, “The most important point in the fight against drugs is addressing the issue of international borders,” noting that “within two months of 2024, 70 drug dealers were arrested.”
He stated that “the issue of exchanging information and handing over the names of wanted persons will enhance cooperation between countries.”
He stated that “95 percent of the smuggling operations in Syria were seized, and there are no weapons smuggling operations across its borders.”
He stressed that “there are short-term clinics, and we obtained the approval of the Council of Ministers, and they were rehabilitated and the abuser was considered a victim,” explaining that “these centers are carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Health.”
He stated that “torture during the investigation has been ended, and there may be some cases, but they do not rise to the phenomenon,” pointing out that “our doors are open to all citizens.”
