Today, Friday, Dhi Qar Governorate Council asked the demonstrators and security services to exercise the utmost restraint.
The Provincial Council stated in a statement received by Al-Rasheed, “We are following with great interest the recent events in our dear governorate, and we support the implementation of the law and support the security services in carrying out their assigned duties.”
He called for “forming a joint committee from the Judicial Council, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Interior to re-investigate those who have arrest warrants and demand that they be given an opportunity to prove their innocence in the lawsuits against them,” calling on the demonstrators and the security services to “follow the utmost levels of self-restraint, remain peaceful, and abstain from violence.”
The Council stressed, “What Iraq and the region are going through calls for greater cohesion and preparations for the upcoming developments on the ground, as no one knows where things will end in light of the ongoing war in our regional surroundings.”
