Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that the Kingdom supports the deployment of an international force in Gaza by a UN resolution whose mission is to support the Palestinian Authority, expressing Saudi concern about the risk of the war expanding into Lebanon.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan indicated today, Thursday, in a speech during the European Council on Foreign Relations conference in Madrid, that no indication of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip can be seen.
Bin Farhan stressed that Saudi Arabia supports the deployment of an international force in Gaza by a UN resolution whose mission is to support the Palestinian Authority, adding: “We see every day in Gaza and the West Bank elements working to threaten the two-state solution.”
He continued: “Spain and other countries’ recognition of the Palestinian state is a glimmer of hope in the arena of destroying the horizon of the two-state solution.”
Speaking about the situation in Lebanon, the Saudi Foreign Minister commented, saying: “We are concerned about the danger of the war expanding in Lebanon, and we do not see any political horizon.”
Prince Faisal bin Farhan pointed out that a ceasefire in Gaza could help stop the tension on the border between the Israeli army and Lebanon.
