Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah offered his deep condolences to the families of the deceased, the Kuwaiti citizen and his Saudi companion, whose bodies were transported from Iraq and buried in Kuwait, on Thursday.
The Foreign Minister thanked the Iraqi government for its quick response in revealing the scene of the accident, finding the bodies of the two deceased, and for facilitating their transfer to Kuwait. “This is a right that must be said,” according to what was reported by the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Qabas.
He added, “On Tuesday, when the two bodies were found, we officially requested, through our embassy in Baghdad, the Iraqi government to conduct an expanded investigation into the circumstances of this incident, and last Wednesday, the Iraqi Prime Minister directed an investigation into the incident and ordered the establishment of a committee to follow up on this investigation.”
The Foreign Minister continued: “The information we have today is that the committee moved to the scene of the accident, and we are awaiting the official report on the circumstances of this accident. Let us review the report first and then see the results of this report.”
In response to a question about the presence of 9 cars on the entire trip, he said: “We have not reached them yet, and we are currently talking about the two deceased, and our entire focus is on the two victims, Faisal Al-Mutairi and Anwar Al-Dhafiri, and what happened to them.”
He wished everyone “not to circulate information that is not confirmed or incorrect, and is not issued by official sources, because this will increase the confusion and increase people’s anger and sadness, and we are all affected, as what happened is extremely sad.”
