Today, Tuesday, Minister of Water Resources Aoun Dhiab announced the planting of 174,000 seedlings as part of the initiative of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, indicating that his ministry is studying a plan to distribute the planting of 5 million palm trees and trees to secure water for them.

Dhiab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Based on the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, a serious campaign was launched to plant a large number of trees,” stressing that “174,000 seedlings have been planted throughout Iraq.”
He added, “The Ministry has received 15,000 trees to be planted, and will soon receive 28,000 trees to be planted.”
He explained, “The Ministry of Water Resources took it upon itself to study the issue of securing water to plant 5 million palm trees and trees, and distribute these trees in places to prepare water for them, whether from ground or surface water.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani launched a major initiative to plant 5 million trees and palm trees throughout all governorates of Iraq, during the Iraq Climate Conference, which was hosted by Basra Governorate, with international and regional participation.
