The Ministry of Water Resources identified the importance of the Hilla-Diwaniyah land reclamation project in Babil Governorate.

The project manager, Muhammad Abbas, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the engineering and technical personnel at Al-Rafidain General Company are continuing their work on the Hilla-Diwaniyah Dora Canal land reclamation project for the third phase,” noting that “the project serves more than 9,500 dunams in Babylon Governorate.
Abbas added, “The work included lining a main circulation canal with a length of 7,500 km, along with the implementation of 5 distributed canals and 58 feeder canals, in addition to making a network of sewers assembled with all the irrigation and drainage facilities for the project, which numbered 48,” noting that “the works included The burial is paved with clean, laboratory-tested soil in an amount of 100,000 m3, with cross-sectional alignment and pedestrian bridges.”
He pointed out that “the work aims to improve the quality and efficiency of water and deliver it to agricultural lands and all beneficiaries in the governorate.”
