Real Madrid star, Brazilian international Vinicius Junior, published a fiery post after losing the Golden Ball to Manchester City and Spain player Rodri.
Rodri won the prestigious award yesterday, Monday, after beating the Real Madrid trio, Vinicius Junior, Englishman Jude Bellingham, and Spaniard Dani Carvajal.
After announcing his loss of the award, Vinicius wrote on his account on the “X” platform: “I will do it 10 times if necessary. They are not ready.”
Vinicius did not specify the purpose of his post, but media reports said that the Brazilian star was referring to his battle against racism and that it was the reason he did not win the award.
The Brazilian international (24 years old) was subjected to racist abuse on several occasions in Spain, which led to the conviction of at least two people on charges of racist insults in leading cases in the country.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid boycotted the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony held in the French capital, Paris, on Monday, as Vinicius, Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal and Carlo Ancelotti did not attend the ceremony, after they were convinced that Vinicius would win the Ballon d’Or.
