Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Sunday that diligent efforts are now being made to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip before the month of Ramadan.
He added: “There is an urgent need to find a solution to the food and medicine crisis. We support taking unilateral steps to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza without obtaining permission from anyone,” stressing that “waiting for permission from anyone means there is a real danger to the lives of about two million people.” .
Fidan pointed out that “President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited Palestinian President Abbas to visit Turkey.”
Today, Sunday, delegations from Hamas, Qatar, and the United States arrived in Egypt to resume truce negotiations in Gaza.
A Hamas source confirmed that a truce agreement in Gaza may be reached within “24 to 48 hours” if Israel agrees to the Palestinian demands.
There is talk of a six-week truce that includes prisoners held by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners in Israel, and the entry of a large amount of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The war in Gaza continues for its 149th day, leaving more than 30,000 martyrs so far, while international mediators race against time to reach a ceasefire before Ramadan, amid famine that has become a reality.
