Istanbul /Nina/ Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi signed a joint declaration regarding the restructuring of the meetings of the high-level Turkish-Egyptian Strategic Cooperation Council.
The announcement, which was signed during the Turkish President’s visit to Cairo today, Wednesday, stated that the presidents of the two countries will chair the upcoming meetings of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, and that the Council will meet alternately every two years in Turkey and Egypt, and the work will be coordinated and the agenda for each meeting will be prepared by the foreign ministers of the two countries.
The two countries explained in their announcement that the meetings of the Joint Planning Group will be held under the joint chairmanship of the foreign ministers of the two countries, in order to prepare for the high-level Strategic Cooperation Council meetings, and that senior officials from other relevant ministries and institutions will participate in these meetings.
In their declaration, the two countries affirmed their determination to continue consolidating their strong relations in all fields in order to develop their solidarity and cooperation that serves the common interests of the two countries and promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.
Cooperation will take place between the two sides, according to what was stated in the joint statement, in the fields of political, diplomatic, economic, commercial, banking, financial services, investments, transportation, aviation, maritime, tourism, health, work, security, military and defense industries, and combating organized crime and terrorism.
Cooperation will also take place in the fields of culture, education, science and technology, energy, mining, agriculture, environment, forestry, residential and urban transformation, climate change, communications, information and consular affairs.
Turkey and Egypt agreed in their joint declaration to assign the foreign ministers and other relevant ministers in the two countries, in order to activate cooperation in these areas, carry out the necessary coordination and take all measures to prepare memorandums of understanding and agreements./End
