Istanbul /Nina/ The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, Fakhr al-Din Altun, warned against the state of indifference to the crimes committed by Israel in Palestine.
Al-Tuwan said in a speech he delivered today during a symposium entitled “Genocide in Gaza… New Evidence” organized in Istanbul: “We must announce that there is a clear genocide taking place in Gaza today, committed by Israel, which has committed many serious crimes classified by the Rome Statute.” The basic principle is that they are crimes, especially the crime of genocide.”
He added: “Genocide is not just an act of mass murder, but rather a comprehensive attack on the material and spiritual existence of a people.”
Alton stated that Israel is not only killing the residents of Gaza, but is committing cultural genocide of the spirit of the region, noting that since the beginning of the war, Israel has destroyed 194 mosques and 100 schools, and exposed 266 mosques, 3 churches, and 295 schools to severe damage, and that Israel is flouting humanitarian laws despite all the cases of rejection from various countries. the world .
Altoun stressed the need for “feelings of indifference not to prevail towards the misinformation campaigns practiced by Israel to normalize acts such as genocide and its brutal practices.”
He said: “I believe that this meeting will be one of the most prominent forums that will contribute to recording the crimes committed by Israel in Gaza before the law, history and human conscience. Through the images that we obtain from field work, we will document Israel’s massacres as war crimes proven by tangible evidence, and not as war crimes.” “Allegedly.”
He stressed that Israel’s continued and systematic targeting of civilians and infrastructure constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian laws. The extensive use of weapons such as phosphorus bombs, banned under various agreements, on the civilian population in Gaza is clear evidence that Israel has committed a war crime.”
Regarding the book “The Evidence,” Alton pointed out that it contains a lot of visual evidence related to Israel’s atrocities and genocidal crimes.
He said: “We feel proud of the use of the book of evidence in the International Court of Justice, which proves the genocide crimes committed by Israel.”
He pointed out that Israel is making efforts to hide the massacres it committed, and continues its comprehensive policy of deception in order to normalize its brutality and barbarism against Gaza and the Palestinians.
The Turkish presidential spokesman said: “If we are indifferent, lies and fake news will replace the truth. If we are indifferent, Israel will normalize its crimes and evade punishment.”
He pointed out that the Center for Combating Misinformation, affiliated with the Communications Department in the Turkish Presidency, revealed about 200 pieces of misleading information fabricated by Israel since last October 7 and revealed its truth to public opinion. An example of this is the bombing of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, where officials, Israeli media, and social media users promoted Social media in Israel is a lie that “Hamas carried out the attack, not Israel.” The Anti-Disinformation Center revealed at the time that the scenes reported by the Israeli side date back to 2022.
The Anti-Disinformation Center also monitored a post by the former official in charge of social media for the Israeli Prime Minister, in which he expressed victory by bombing the hospital. He then deleted the post and accused Hamas of bombing the hospital in a subsequent post.
Alton recalled that Israel directly targeted and killed journalists who sought to reveal the truth, saying: “It is no coincidence that 75 percent of the journalists killed in the world in 2023 died in Gaza.”
He pointed out that there were 130 journalists whose job was to show the truth and who were killed by Israel while performing their duty.
Al-Tuwan explained that among the misleading methods used by the media is manipulation of words and influencing the recipient, such as portraying the Palestinian people as a “foreign,” “other,” and “backward” society, while the Israelis are portrayed as a “progressive” society and “Modern” and “Western”.
Alton stressed the importance of the work carried out by the media in the region in revealing the truth about the genocidal crimes committed by Israel and confronting a large portion of the Western media cooperating with Tel Aviv.
He stated that the efforts to document and expose Israel’s crimes will be a model for international media from both the humanitarian and professional standpoints, and will receive great appreciation, noting that the symposium “Genocide in Gaza… New Evidence” falls in this context./End
