The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that its forces neutralized 57 members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party last week in operations carried out in northern Iraq and Syria.
This came at a press conference held by the Ministry’s Media and Public Relations Advisor, Zeki Akturk, on Thursday in the capital, Ankara.
Akturk said: “With the successful operations carried out in northern Iraq and Syria, 1,327 PKK elements have been neutralized since the beginning of this year, 57 of them in the past week.”
Akturk stressed that the borders are protected according to international standards with a gradual security system being established.
He added: “Last week, 328 people were arrested, 9 of whom were members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.”
