The assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump has sparked sympathy among Republicans and surprisingly united his supporters to unprecedented levels.
During the Republican Party conference, which Trump insisted on attending despite the incident, wearing a bandage over his injured ear, Trump’s supporters also wore bandages over their ears in solidarity with him.
On Monday, the Republican Party officially chose Trump as its candidate for the presidential elections scheduled for next November.
The conference was held just two days after Trump survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
One rally participant was killed and two others were seriously injured, while Trump was shot in the ear.
The image of Trump raising his fist after being shot, while being escorted by Secret Service agents, made headlines around the world and spread quickly on social media.
