The Ministry of Transport announced today, Sunday, its preparations for the Ashura visit, while indicating that the work will be on two axes, and confirmed that maintenance work will be carried out on all buses and their proper preparation.
The Director General of the General Company for Transporting Passengers and Delegations at the Ministry, Karim Kazem Hussein, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The General Company for Transporting Passengers has begun, upon the instructions of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Transport, and before the start of the season of the pilgrimage of the tenth of Muharram and the Arbaeen pilgrimage, to prepare its fleet to cover the pilgrimage in the best possible way,” noting that “more than 250 buses have been prepared initially and more than 100 buses are in reserve to cover the peak hours during the pilgrimage of the tenth of Muharram.”
He added, “The work for the General Company for Passenger Transport will be on two axes, the first is the Baghdad axis and the second is the Babylon axis, under the direct supervision of the Minister and the company’s specialized staff and technical, administrative and inspection detachments.”
He added that “preparations for this year were made early, as maintenance work was carried out on all buses and they were well prepared,” noting that “the company has gained extensive experience in dealing with millions of crowds and managing them in an organized and coordinated manner in coordination with the holy Karbala Governorate, the security forces, the Ministry of Interior and other sectors holding the land.”
