The transfer window is heading for a frantic conclusion tonight as Premier League clubs scramble to complete last-minute business up to and after the 11pm deadline.
Arsenal are hoping to get a loan deal over the line for Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling in a sensational switch between the London rivals. The Independent reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Sterling from their days at Manchester City, and the deal is almost complete after talks late on Friday night.
Sterling has been told he will not play under Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, who have been the busiest club on deadline day. The Blues wanted to sign a striker, but top option Victor Osimhen turned down Chelsea’s wage offer in favour of staying at Napoli while Ivan Toney is set to move to Saudi side Al-Ahli in a £40m transfer from Brentford.
Elsewhere, Chelsea and Manchester United are set to agree to a deal for winger Jadon Sancho, who is expected to depart Old Trafford. United also finally finished off a move for PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, after Scott McTominay was sold to Napoli.

Manchester United sign PSG’s Manuel Ugarte for initial £42m: ‘I will sacrifice and give everything’
The Uruguay international, whose fee could rise by a further £8.5m if add-ons are triggered, has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford after passing a medical.
He joined as Scott McTominay ended his 22-year association with United by moving to Napoli for £25.7m, with the FA Cup winners also having a 10 percent sell-on clause.

Transfer window – what happens next?
Thought the window is technically shut, clubs get an additional hours to complete deals if they have submitted a ‘deal sheet’.
A deal sheet is a document that confirms that an agreement has been reached before the 11pm deadline, but at the same time requires additional time to be sealed.
According to Sky, “deal sheets must be fully completed and submitted after 9pm but before the 11pm deadline”.
“However, international transfers must be completed by 12am – the deadline set by FIFA”.
