The Ministry of Commerce confirmed, on Friday, that the ration flour provided to citizens is of good quality, while denying that the flour is of poor quality or unsuitable.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Trade, Mohammed Hanoun, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The ministry provides citizens with ration flour of good quality, and there is no truth to its unsuitability, as the Ministry of Trade announced that the quantities of flour produced by private and government mills are of good quality, and are an extract of locally produced wheat, especially from local wheat prepared by farmers and cultivators.”
Hanoun added that “the supervisory bodies in the Ministry of Trade and the General Company for Grain Manufacturing are carrying out monitoring and auditing operations in all private and government mills, in addition to food agents, and are also listening to citizens’ complaints through the hotlines located in the office of the Minister of Trade and the General Company for Grain Manufacturing, in addition to the branches of the Commercial and Financial Control Department in Baghdad and the governorates.”
He stressed that “the types of flour produced under the ration card have been good for more than 3 years, and they are of good quality and are prepared through private and government mills, and the names of these mills are mentioned on the flour bags prepared for agents and citizens.”
He pointed out that “the ministry has not received any complaints regarding the unsuitability of the flour provided within the ration card or its poor quality, while there are mobile inspection teams that monitor the flour preparation and production processes inside the mills and upon its arrival to the agents and follow up on its delivery to the citizens.”
He pointed out that “the ration card flour that is prepared for citizens is of good quality and has proven its success through bakery inspections that are carried out before it is prepared for citizens.”
He called on citizens throughout Iraq to “report any violations in the flour preparation processes or the presence of poor quality materials being prepared within the quantities supplied to agents in order to take legal action against violators.”
