Baghdad/Nina/ The newspapers issued today, Tuesday, focused on the solidarity stand organized by the Journalists Syndicate with Palestinian journalists who are being killed by the occupation forces and the resumption of work on the Bismaya housing project.
The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate said in a statement that on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate organized yesterday afternoon, Monday, February 26, a stand in solidarity with Palestinian journalists as a result of their exposure to attacks and murders at the hands of the Zionist occupation forces in Gaza, in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Baghdad, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi.
She added that the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the head of the Union of Arab Journalists, Muayyad Al-Lami, gave a speech during the solidarity stand in which he declared that the Iraqi people, government, and Iraqi journalistic family stand by the people of Palestine, who are being subjected to Zionist aggression.
Al-Lami saluted the souls of the martyrs of the Palestinian press who were martyred in Gaza at the hands of the Zionist occupation forces, stressing the condemnation and denunciation of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the Iraqi press family for the murders of Palestinian journalists, as well as the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate’s readiness to treat wounded Palestinian journalists in Iraqi hospitals,
The head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate announced that the Syndicate Council decided to award the Iraqi Press Shield for the year 2024, with all its privileges, to the Palestinian journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, in appreciation of his courage and sacrifices during the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
She continued: The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, conveyed the greetings of the people of Palestine and his leadership to the President of the Iraqi Journalists and the Iraqi journalistic family for the supportive and supporting positions of the Palestinian people, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the Palestinian journalistic family, stressing his pride in Iraq’s position in support of the Palestinian cause.
For his part, the head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and head of the Union of Arab Journalists, Muayad Al-Lami, said in a speech during the solidarity pause: “I welcome the ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Iraq and his embassy staff, and we are also pleased with the presence of our fellow journalists so that we stand strong alongside our struggling Palestinian people and alongside the souls of the martyrs of the Palestinian press.” Especially those who were martyred in Gaza at the hands of the occupation forces, indicating that more than 130 male and female journalists were martyred in Gaza during recent months at the hands of the brutal Zionist aggression that killed children, women and the elderly and destroyed the infrastructure in the Strip.
He added: The Zionist entity does not want to see anything particularly beautiful in Palestine, just as it does not want to see Palestine and the name Palestine, but we in Iraq and the Arab countries will stand strongly alongside this great, struggling people who, for 75 years, have been subjected to occupation, permanent aggression, killing and destruction.
He continued: We at the Union of Arab Journalists have taken important steps, the first of which is going to international courts to prosecute the criminal killers, in addition to helping our people in Gaza, especially the families of the martyrs of the Palestinian press, as the General Union of Arab Journalists will contribute to treating those wounded in the occupation’s aggression and will also sponsor the construction of homes for the families of the martyrs of the press in Gaza, which It was destroyed by air, artillery or missile strikes at the hands of the occupation forces.
He went on to say: Iraqi journalists always stand by our Palestinian people and alongside their colleagues in the profession in Gaza, the West Bank, and all regions of the State of Palestine, indicating that more than 100,000 martyrs and wounded fell in Gaza during four and a half months, and this number is not small, but the steadfast, patient, and loving peoples are. For life and independence, it always sacrifices for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
For his part, Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi said during the speech: I extend my greetings to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, represented by its president, Nasser Abu Bakr, to the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, to the President of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, and to all the media professionals in brotherly Iraq at this critical moment in which the Palestinian people are being attacked in all the Palestinian territories. Whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or besieged Jerusalem, where the Al-Afsa Mosque is today being attacked and prevented from praying there by the brutal occupation forces.
He added: The occupation is targeting the journalist with the aim of preventing the image from being transmitted with 124 media martyrs and journalists who fell in the Palestinian territories, specifically in Gaza, in the local satellite radio stations and media institutions. We have detained journalists, and there are journalists who are now kidnapped as a result of this attack. Pointing out that this occupation, which bombs journalists and media outlets, also targeted the families of journalists and their homes, as we lost many families of journalists who reported the scene of what is happening on the ground of a brutal attack targeting people and stones in Gaza.
He pointed out that some countries, unfortunately, are idly watching the Zionist occupation’s continued assault on the Palestinian people, adding: We hear from some people positions on human rights and democracy, but when the issue relates to the crimes of the occupation on the Palestinian territories, they stand by silence regarding this crime that is still continuing and the result of which they fell. 130,000 martyrs, more than 50,000 wounded, 70 percent of Gaza destroyed, and mosques, churches, hospitals, and medical and scientific centers targeted.
He went on to say: We will not leave Palestine and will not leave our land, neither through displacement nor through resettlement, and we reject any initiatives and offers that confiscate our right to freedom and the establishment of our Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He continued: We feel the solid Iraqi position that stands with Palestine at all levels, whether at the governmental level, represented by the Prime Minister, and at the level of parties, unions, federations, and also the religious authority, as they all stood with Palestine, not in word, but in deed, and in the humanitarian and political support provided to Gaza.
Yesterday, Monday, Al-Sabah newspaper, under the patronage of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, focused on signing a memorandum of understanding between the Investment Authority and the Korean Hanwha Company to resume work in the residential city of Bismaya.
The newspaper quoted a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, saying that the Sudanese visit to the city “witnessed a meeting with a group of residents of the city of Bismayah, listened to their comments regarding the services provided and directed their follow-up. Al-Zaman newspaper focused on denying the Ministry of Finance that there was a problem with liquidity to secure the monthly salaries of employees and retirees.
The ministry said in a statement, “We are surprised by the claims of some political and media figures regarding the lack of sufficient cash flow to secure the salaries of state employees.”
The statement indicated that (the financial plans prepared within the government program for public spending included taking several procedures and measures consistent with what was stated in the amended Federal Financial Management Law and the General Budget Law, as well as implementing the unified treasury system, by completing the budget tables for the fiscal years 2024 and 2025. It was submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval, and thus the salaries of employees, the social protection network, and the salaries of retirees were secured without delay or delay through its retained cash balances for the previous year and its oil and non-oil revenues.
The statement added, “The Ministry is committed to ensuring continuous funding for salaries, and directing the resumption of official working hours on Fridays and Saturdays for the purpose of completing the distribution of salaries of state employees without delay.”
The statement explained that “the financial and economic reform plan pursued by the government led to a noticeable increase in economic growth, and achieved an important resource from the state’s resources through the increase in development projects and the restart of a number of stalled factories, especially food and construction factories, as the production rate increased in several projects.” Within the framework of the development vision of the local economy, diversifying it, reducing dependence on oil revenues as the sole source of the budget, and maximizing non-oil revenues,” stressing that “no statement was issued by the Ministry in this regard, especially since the government reforms relied on expanding the participation of the private sector in securing greater job opportunities.” .
