Official statement…….
Today, Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani attended a workshop held in the capital, Baghdad, aimed at supporting the national industry, especially the construction industries, in conjunction with the start of work in the new residential cities.
In his speech during the workshop, Al-Sudani stressed the government’s seriousness in supporting the private sector and addressing the problems that obstruct its work through the Council of Ministers and the Ministerial Council for the Economy, pointing out that the country is suffering from a real housing crisis that made us move towards the housing sector, which is one of the most prominent sectors that generate Job opportunities certified by international organizations, in up to 89 professions, driven by this important sector.
Al-Sudani stated that Iraq faces a real opportunity to create a broad national industry to secure construction materials, especially since Iraq possesses primary resources, and there is an urgent need for these materials, pointing to the Al-Jawahiri City, which has completed all the conditions for its implementation without any obstacles or problems, and includes the construction of more than 30 thousand housing units, which means it needs a lot of construction materials.
Al-Sudani also explained that the legal team is now working on completing the granting of the license for the city of Ali al-Wardi, which includes 120,000 housing units. The contract for the city of al-Ghazlani in Nineveh has also been signed, and within two or three months the three cities will be implemented.
The following are the highlights of what the Prime Minister spoke during the workshop:
This is an important opportunity for the private industrial sector to provide the construction materials needed by new residential cities.
We must start from an actual success story, and the government is ready to remove any problem or obstacle for investors.
We want investors to establish factories to provide the materials used in the construction of new cities, and the government will provide them with full facilities.
The government moved forcefully on the energy sector; Because of the gas burned and the need for money and energy, we set a timetable to finish burning the gas within a period not exceeding 5 years.
We have reached self-sufficiency through our action on refineries, and during this year we will stop importing petroleum derivatives, and we will achieve a surplus that we will use to operate factories.
We have begun reforming the financial and banking system, and we want banks to contribute to accelerating development.
We are working to rehabilitate local banks, and there are Arab and foreign banks that will enter the Iraqi market to contribute to financing.
Today, Iraq needs 43,000 irrigation systems, and we want Iraqi industrialists to establish production lines to manufacture these systems.
