The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced today, Sunday, the thwarting of a child sale operation and the arrest of the accused in the Rusafa side of Baghdad.
The agency stated in a statement received by Al-Rasheed, that “its detachments specialized in combating organized crime in Baghdad Governorate/Rusafa side, thwarted the sale of a newborn baby.”
She explained, “This came after monitoring accurate intelligence information indicating that there was an accused person who wanted to sell a child in one of the areas of Baghdad Governorate after bringing him from outside the governorate, where he was arrested red-handed.”
She added, “When he was investigated, he explicitly confessed to his intention to sell the child for a sum of money, and he was referred to the competent judicial authorities to receive his just punishment.”
