The Disciplinary Committee of the Iraqi Football Federation decided today, Saturday, to punish two players who abstained from representing the Iraqi national team in the West Asian Championship.
The Federation stated in a statement received by Al-Rasheed, “The committee met to discuss the refusal and failure of the two players (aunts of Asaad Mustafa and Awaz Younis Muhammad) to join the Iraqi women’s national team to participate in the West Asian Championship in Saudi Arabia, under the pretext of the lack of approval of their club (Fatat Dohuk), and Despite the attempts of the head of the delegation and the coaching staff to persuade them to join the national team, they did not respond, due to incitement and threats to cut their salaries by (Sirwan Najm), Secretary of the Kurdistan Federation, and (Mozn Muhammad), the coach of the North Oil Club and Dohuk Girls, and because the team’s participation in the tournament It is considered a national mission and a sacred duty that everyone must respect, and personal interest must not take precedence over national interest. Accordingly, and for all of the above, the committee decided:
1. Punishing the two players (Khalat Asaad Mustafa) and (Awaz Younis Muhammad) by banning them from playing for a year, with a fine of two million dinars for each of them, based on the provisions of Article (13/10) of the competition system regulations for the Iraqi League for halls and outdoor arenas.
2. Regarding the violation of both coach (Mozn Muhammad) and (Sirwan Najm), their matter is left to the Women’s Committee to take the appropriate penalties against them based on the provisions of Article (35) of the competition system regulations for the Iraqi League for halls and outdoor arenas.”
