The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, announced that the water reserve had risen to about 5 billion cubic metres, as a result of the recent rains and torrential rains, while he indicated that the largest amount of rain was recorded in the Penjwen District, at a rate of 137 mm.

Abdullah said to the “Al-Ashra” program, which is shown on Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the recent rains that fell were concentrated in the northern regions,” noting that “the most amount of rain was recorded in the Penjwin district at a rate of 137 mm, and in Darbandikham at about 9 mm.” mm, and the rest of the areas exceeded 50 mm.”
He added, “The floods were concentrated in the northern, eastern, and northeastern regions, where the floods in Diyala Governorate were large and fed the Hamrin and Darbandikhan dams, and we hope that new floods will come to feed the Great Dam,” stressing that “the water reserve reached up to 5 billion cubic meters after increasing it by up to one billion meters.” cube as a result of the recent rains and torrential rains.
