The United Nations issued a new warning about the specter of famine looming over the besieged Gaza Strip.
The World Food Program warned in a statement on Tuesday that a larger number of displaced people may face death due to hunger.
The United Nations Program announced that it had temporarily suspended the delivery of food aid to northern Gaza until conditions in the Strip allow for safe distribution.
He also explained that “the decision to stop delivering aid to the northern Gaza Strip was not taken lightly because the organization realizes that it means the situation there will deteriorate further and that a greater number of people will face the risk of dying from hunger.”
The United Nations warned yesterday, Monday, that the alarming food shortage, widespread malnutrition, and the rapid spread of diseases are factors that could lead to an “explosion” in the number of child deaths in Gaza.
She also stressed that food and clean water have become “very scarce,” and that almost all young children suffer from infectious diseases.
