The Al-Abbas Combat Division held its annual festival on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the issuance of the fatwa on sufficient jihad at the shrine of Imam Abbas (peace be upon him), coinciding with the visit of the middle of Sha’ban, while it indicated that holding the festival comes as a remembrance of the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of the wounded.

The leader of the Abbas Division, Sheikh Maitham Al-Zaidi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The anniversary of the issuance of the jihad fatwa is a fragrant occasion that has an impact on the history of Iraq and its future. It was a decade ago when ISIS terrorist gangs occupied large parts of the country that was about to be divided if it were not for this.” The fatwa, had it not been for the quick response of the people of this country.”
Al-Zaidi pointed out that “holding this festival is a remembrance of the blood of the martyrs, the sacrifices of the wounded, and the heroism of the Iraqi people with their various names and titles,” explaining that “the Abbas Combat Division was born from the womb of this blessed shrine and had a role in all the battles it fought from the first battle to the last battle and beyond.” It continues to communicate, support and send messages to the Iraqi people that it is at the highest level of preparedness and is prepared for any scenario that may occur in the future.”
