ARLINGTON, Texas — Something doesn’t seem right. DeMarvion Overshown made a great play and the running back caught him. But after the two collided, the defender let go of the Dallas Cowboys linebacker.
That’s when Overshow changed the game.
The sophomore linebacker raised his right arm, caught the running back’s short pass with one hand and moved the ball to the New York Giants’ 25-yard line. Overshow then completed the run, lifting the ball in the air near the 5-yard line and running into the end zone.
The play helped the Cowboys take a 13-7 lead early in the second quarter and they never looked back, beating the Giants 27-20 on Thursday at AT&T Stadium.
“I really just thought, ‘Let’s screw this up,'” Overshown said. “It was a blitz and I had my number on it. I just knew I needed to make an impact or at least cause some kind of chaos on the backside. When the running back let me go, I thought to myself, ‘This has to be bullshit. Then the quarterback throws the ball and I’m like, ‘This is the game I’m going to make.
The quarterback is Drew Lock, replacing the injured Tommy DeVito. The running back is Devin Singletary. During the game broadcast on Fox, Tom Brady pointed out how the Giants called it a “low-risk game” via the screen and certainly didn’t anticipate potential turnovers.
“Lock wasn’t even thinking about the interception,” Brady said. “You thought I was throwing it easy. But Overshown ended up making a game-changing play with his length.
The crowd at AT&T Stadium understandably booed the home team many times this season, and when the Overshow ended the game, the crowd was nearly the loudest it had been all season.
OVERSHOWN did a fantastic job.

“I kicked some nitrous and then we danced in the end zone,” Overshown said. “As soon as I got the ball, I knew I was going to score. So it was like, ‘What dance can I do today?’ “
“It comes at the right time. Thanksgiving, the whole world is watching.
The start of Thursday’s game looks similar to the Cowboys’ previous home games this season. The Giants’ offense was mediocre and their defense struggled to stop the Giants’ offense, which managed just one meaningless late touchdown in Sunday’s 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But after this Overshow, there was a momentum that had been missing at home. Dallas had trailed significantly entering the fourth quarter in each of its previous five home games, all of which were decisive losses. It’s a strange situation for a team that has won 16 straight home games the past two seasons. At the end of the third quarter, the Cowboys led 27-10.

“This is our home,” Overshow said. “This is our castle. When teams come here they should be afraid to play us. Consecutive defeats are not good for us either. It’s great to have this place rocking like it should. Now we have to continue Go down.
The Cowboys have won two games in a row to improve their record to 5-7. But they’re far from actually discussing the playoffs. Beating the Washington Commanders and Giants certainly isn’t a reason to erase a disappointing start to the season. Even owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who usually always sees the glass half full, didn’t want to discuss the possibility of a playoff game after the game.
But Overshow’s performance is a reason for optimism about the future. It also left people wondering what would have happened last season, as his rookie season ended in his second preseason game in Dallas. If he hadn’t torn the ACL in his left knee, could his performance on Thursday have played a big role throughout the season or even in the playoffs?
“I told you from the beginning he was going to be a playboy,” Cowboys All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons said. “Before the injury, I said, ‘That’s going to be an All-Pro, a Pro Bowl-type player. Now, he’s not (No. 11), that’s Agent 0. He’s his own special specimen. He’s He’s a wildcat on the field, man, I love playing with him.
Overshown was strong early in the season, but has become more consistent as the year has unfolded. Playing alongside a veteran like Eric Kendricks helps. The two had another crucial defensive game on Thursday.
On the opening series of the third quarter, Kendricks sacked Lock, stripping the ball away in the process. Over display recovery. Dallas then scored six consecutive points to chase the score to 20-10.

“D-Mo is a great player,” Kendricks said. “He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. His attitude is pure. He loves the game. I love seeing it. It motivates me because I’m in my tenth year. Seeing things like A second-year player like him, especially what he brings to the court, inspires me.
“He’s improving every game. He knows he has something to do. He takes it seriously. The sky is the limit. I’m excited to see what he has prepared. Expect more big games from him this year.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy had similar thoughts after the game, saying Overshown’s interception was one of the highlights of Dallas’ season. He also thinks last year’s third-round pick will be better in the future.
“I’m very grateful,” Overshown said. “Just before the game, I told myself, ‘This time last year, I was just waiting to show people my testimony. When I get back on the court, I’m going to show what God has really given me: to go out there and inspire and compete like I do. .All I can ask for is to stay healthy on the court.
