Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research counted the number of national accreditation councils in Iraq, and while it described Iraq’s obtaining international accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education as a pivotal turning point, it confirmed its adoption of the global contexts and systems that made the educational environment in the country qualified to be on the same level as the countries of the world. .
Ministry spokesman, Haider Al-Aboudi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The World Federation for Medical Education granted Iraq full, unconditional recognition, and granted recognition to the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges until the year 2034.”
He continued, “This accreditation represents an important conclusion that Iraq, its procedures, curricula, and educational environment are qualified to be among the countries of the world, because it relies on the same global contexts and systems, especially in the medical education environment.”
He pointed out, “The history of medical education in Iraq is ancient because it began in 1927, but until 2024 it did not obtain this recognition from the World Federation for Medical Education, which made this occasion a pivotal turning point in the history of education, and the opening of the Iraqi higher education environment.” From local to global scale.
He added, “Iraq includes 20 national accreditation councils, and the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges is one of these councils,” stressing that “work is underway to obtain international accreditation for all these fields.”
