Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Saturday, that the products of chemical fertilizer manufacturers meet the need of the lands included in the agricultural line.
A statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani opened the urea fertilizer factory and the dab fertilizer factory/DAPaffiliated with the General Company for the Southern Fertilizer Industry/Ministry of Industry and Minerals, during his visit to Basra Governorate, adding that he “conducted a tour of the manufacturers’ departments, and was briefed on the work and operating mechanisms.”
The Prime Minister stressed that “the manufacturers’ products of chemical fertilizers will fill the need for the lands included in the agricultural plan for fertilizers in all governorates of Iraq, and there will be no need for imports, which saves huge funds that were allocated for these requirements.”
The statement continued, “These two factories are important strategic projects that will contribute to covering the needs of the Ministry of Agriculture, strengthening national food security requirements, and expanding the areas of land cultivated with various crops.”
It is noteworthy that “the two factories have been out of work for years, and were reopened after contracting with two foreign companies. The capacity of the urea factory is (1,000) tons per day, while the capacity of the dab factory is (500) thousand tons per year.”
