Today, Wednesday, President Abdel Latif Gamal Rashid stressed the importance of enhancing opportunities for peace and establishing security and stability in the region.
The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received, today, at Baghdad Palace, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev.”
During the meeting, the President praised “the strong relations between Iraq and Russia,” stressing “the importance of working to strengthen them in areas of common interest, especially in the economic aspect, in addition to developing the work participation of Russian companies in Iraq.”
He referred to “regional and international developments,” stressing “the importance of enhancing opportunities for peace, establishing security and stability in the region, working immediately to stop the aggression against the Gaza Strip, and providing aid to the Palestinian people.”
He explained that “Iraq’s position on the Russian-Ukrainian war calls for stopping the war and adopting dialogue and understanding to reach solutions to the problems between the two countries in a way that serves international peace and security.”
For his part, Ambassador Elbrus Kutrashev expressed “Russia’s aspiration to strengthen relations of cooperation and friendship, and to unify efforts to establish security and stability in the region.”
