The Presidency’s Media Department said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at his residence in Algeria, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, and his accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the seventh summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.” .
The statement added, “The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, which have deep historical and religious commonalities.”
The President stressed “the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation in a way that serves common interests and meets the aspirations of the two neighboring peoples to achieve comprehensive development.”
The statement continued, “The two sides discussed the importance of holding the seventh summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum and the serious contribution that the summit constitutes to the stability of the energy sector and achieving a balance between energy security and reducing emissions and pollution, supporting rationalization and preserving the environment.”
Regarding developments in the region, President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid stressed the importance of working to reduce tensions, adopting constructive dialogue in resolving conflicts, and working to establish international peace and security, noting in this regard the need to stop the aggression against the Gaza Strip, provide relief to the Palestinian people who are facing the ugliest forms of aggression, and end their suffering. humanity by granting him all his legitimate rights.”
The statement concluded, “The Iranian President affirmed his country’s keenness to support the security and stability of Iraq, indicating his government’s aspiration for coordination and joint cooperation between the two countries in a way that achieves stability and peace for the peoples of the region. President Ibrahim Raisi also praised Iraq’s pivotal role in bringing the views of the countries of the region closer together.”
