The Ministry’s spokesman, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, said in a press conference on the plan to secure the visit of the middle of Sha’ban, which was held at the Holy Karbala Operations Command headquarters and attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “We did not record any security breach in the Holy Karbala Governorate or the barriers that lead to the city.” Stressing that “more than 35,000 security men participated in the plan to secure the Shaabaniya visit.”
He added, “The plan is good so far and will continue until the last visitor leaves,” indicating that “the plan did not include any cutting of roads, and perhaps it will be partial and not permanent according to the circumstances.”
The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, had arrived earlier in the Holy Governorate of Karbala to review the progress of the security plan for the Shaabaniya visit.
A statement from the Ministry of Interior received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated, “To review the progress of the security plan for the Shaabaniya visit, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, arrived in the Holy Governorate of Karbala, accompanied by the two Undersecretaries for Police and Intelligence Affairs and a number of officers.”
