Baghdad / Nina/ Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, this evening, Thursday, officially assigned Muhammad Mustafa to form a new government.
The text of the assignment stated: “We have decided to choose you as Prime Minister and assign you to form the nineteenth government within the period specified in the Basic Law.”
Abbas called on the Prime Minister-designate “to commit to the highest interests of the Palestinian people, preserve their gains, protect their achievements, develop and advance them, and achieve their national goals as approved by the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.”
It should be noted that on the 26th of last month, Abbas agreed to the Palestinian government’s resignation request submitted by Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh. This was followed by the President issuing a decree accepting it, and the resigned government was assigned to conduct business temporarily, until a new government is formed./End 9
