Baghdad/ Nina/ The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed that Iraq will fully support South Africa’s action regarding the ongoing aggression in Gaza.
The president said in an interview with the English Sky News channel: The suffering of the Palestinian people has exceeded what human rights can accept, and the international community has the duty to reach a permanent ceasefire and resolve the Palestinian issue once and for all by living on its legitimate land.
He added, “Iraq has supported, from the beginning, the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state and its recognition in the United Nations and the international community.”
He explained, “The Palestinian issue is not only a political issue. It is an emotional issue in the entire region, which feels that the Palestinians have been deprived of the right to live on their land and in their region.”
He stated, “Iraq is doing everything it can to help the Palestinian people in Gaza by sending aid, but the Israelis do not allow all aid to pass, and much of it is piling up at the crossings.”
He pointed out that “the Islamic Republic of Iran has supported the rights of the Palestinian people from the beginning, and was very clear in condemning the attacks on Gaza and the Palestinian people.”
Rashid stressed, “Iraq will fully support South Africa’s action regarding the ongoing aggression in Gaza, because we know the truth about genocide and the truth about attacking civilians, and we hope that the final decision will come out in favor of the Palestinian people and condemn the Israelis.”
Regarding the Iraqi situation, he said: “Iraq is against the attacks that take place in Iraq or on Iraq from any party, and the government reached a peace that contributed to stopping the attacks.”
He added, “The war in Gaza affected many countries in Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria, and resulted in crises in the Red Sea, commercial shipping, and the economic, commercial, and political situation in the region. Likewise, many countries outside the region were affected by this.”
The president explained, “Iraq wants to establish good relations with the United States, not only in military matters, but also in economic, commercial, political, diplomatic, scientific, and cultural aspects.”
He stressed, “The Iraqi government is working on understandings regarding the presence of international coalition forces in the country, and setting a timetable for their stay, missions, and date of departure.”
He continued, “The security stability that Iraq enjoys now is important, and the situation today is better than it was in past years. The Presidency of the Republic, the government, and the House of Representatives are working greatly to consolidate this stability.”/End H
