The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the decision of the International Court of Justice to impose new temporary precautionary measures in line with the request of the State of South Africa regarding the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry said in a statement: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the decision of the International Court of Justice to issue new temporary precautionary measures in line with the request of the State of South Africa in the face of the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.”
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry indicated that “the court’s request from Israel in its new measures to stop the genocide committed by its forces, in addition to the necessity of coordination with the United Nations regarding humanitarian aid, confirms that Israel committed this heinous crime and emphasizes the importance of the United Nations institutions, and the rejection of Israel’s use of starvation.” As a weapon of war through the court’s confirmation that there is real famine in Gaza.”
She added: “The request for an additional report from Israel confirms that the current situation and the threat of genocide of the Palestinian people includes a real danger that cannot be contained or fixed.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed that the State of Palestine will join the plea submitted by South Africa against Israel and its commission of the crime of genocide.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that “the International Court of Justice’s mention of Security Council Resolution 2728 and the demand for a ceasefire confirms the necessity of immediately stopping the Israeli aggression against our people, bringing in aid and preventing forced displacement in implementation of precautionary orders and preventing the crime of genocide.”
The Ministry called on all countries to shoulder their responsibilities as members of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and in the International Court of Justice, to take the necessary measures to force Israel to implement the court’s precautionary measures in order to prevent the genocide of the Palestinian people, hold Israel and its officials accountable for this crime, and hold them responsible for its political and diplomatic consequences. And commercially.
It also called on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to complete the criminal investigation and punish Israeli officials, especially the perpetrators of genocide.
On Thursday, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to “ensure the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance” to the Gaza Strip without delay, stressing that “famine has already occurred.”
