The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi, confirmed that the Ministry of Transport attaches importance to the Baghdad International Airport file.

A statement by the Ministry of Transport, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibas Al-Saadawi chaired a meeting at Baghdad International Airport, which included representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the committee concerned with preparing plans for the rehabilitation and expansion of Baghdad International Airport,” indicating that “the meeting reviewed a report.” A detailed account of the prepared plans and mechanisms for implementing the agreement signed between Iraq and the International Finance Corporation, in September of last year, to rehabilitate and develop Baghdad International Airport.
According to the statement, the attendees reviewed “ways to raise the efficiency of Baghdad International Airport, expand it, finance it, operate it and maintain it, and support its safety factors to comply with international airport standards.”
Al-Saadawi stressed that “the Ministry of Transport attaches importance to the Baghdad International Airport file, because it represents a cultural interface for the country,” noting that “this interest in developing infrastructure and work falls within the framework of an integrated vision that includes all airports.”
He indicated, during the meeting, that he is “keen to have a field presence in the lounges of Baghdad International Airport to directly supervise the reality of the services provided to travelers, and to follow up on the comprehensive rehabilitation work of those lounges.”
