The media office of the Minister of Electricity stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “media outlets and some social networking sites circulated news of a fire and sounds of explosions in the thermal cycle power station, and here we would like to clarify to public opinion that the circulating news is not true.”
He added, “What happened was a technical problem in the fifth obstetric unit that resulted in the opening of the safety valve,” pointing out that “maintenance teams are working to repair the device during the coming hours.”
He called on the media to “be careful in publishing news and take it from their official sources.”
