Today, Monday, the Ministry of Culture and the Iraqi Artists Syndicate honored the great film director Muhammad Shukri Jamil, while the Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, confirmed that this came in response to the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to honor the artists and pioneers in their lives.

The Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The great film director, Muhammad Shukri Jamil, is one of the pioneers of Iraqi art in the field of film directing and represents a very important icon in the history of Iraqi cinema,” noting that “the celebration that was held today came In response to the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to honor the artists and pioneers in their lives because they are witnesses to Iraq’s civilization.”
While the head of the Artists Syndicate, Jabbar Jodi, confirmed to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Muhammad Shukri Jamil has become a prominent sign of cinematic culture as he is a director who has dedicated himself to this direction,” indicating that “we decided to honor him in his lifetime by naming the Baghdad Festival session after him, with the establishment of A bust of him at the entrance to the Artists Guild.
Director Muhammad Shukri Jamil told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The honor and statue make me feel proud and happy with this government’s indifference.”
The artist Fatima Al-Rubaie, wife of director Muhammad Shukri Jamil, stated to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Muhammad Shukri Jamil’s works are not only evaluated with an award, but rather the award is the love and respect of the audience,” calling for him to be “granted the state award.”
She pointed out that “the works of the great director Mohamed Shukri Jamil brought us to the international level.”
