Today, Thursday, Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani stressed interest in the issue of human rights, the rights of women and children, and vulnerable societal groups.

The Ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “His Excellency the Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani received, today, Thursday, in his office in the Ministry’s building, His Excellency the Finnish Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, Anu Saarila, and during the meeting the human rights file was discussed.”
Shawani stressed – according to the statement – “the government’s interest in the human rights file, and for the first time the Iraqi government has submitted its report within the international recommendations on time to the competent international bodies.”
He stated, “The government curriculum pays great attention to the issue of human rights, the rights of women and children, and vulnerable societal groups.”
For her part, Sarila expressed her thanks for the good reception and positive cooperation by the Minister and praised the government’s adoption of human rights concepts in its dealings with women and childhood and its taking serious steps to implement human rights standards.
