Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari chaired an expanded security meeting at the Karbala Operations Command headquarters to discuss the progress of the security and service plan for the commemoration of Ashura.
The ministry said in a statement received by Al-Rasheed, “Al-Shammari chaired, today, Tuesday, an expanded security meeting at the headquarters of the Karbala Operations Command to discuss preparations for the visit of the tenth of Muharram, the anniversary of the martyrdom of the father of the free, Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the presence of the commander of Karbala Operations, the commander of its police, the security and intelligence services, and the Popular Mobilization Forces.”
The Minister stressed the “importance of intensifying efforts to serve visitors heading to Karbala to commemorate this immortal memory from inside and outside the country.”
He also listened to a detailed explanation of the work of the security axes and their deployment, stressing “the reliance on intensive intelligence efforts and securing the holy city of Karbala and its surroundings.”
The Minister directed to “work to provide high fluidity in the movement of visitors and full cooperation with the owners of the Husseini processions, while continuing awareness and education campaigns among visitors.”
