Today, Tuesday, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari discussed with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler the strengthening of the security of the common border.

A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari received Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of a number of leaders and officers.”
The statement added, “The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them, and enhancing the security of the common borders was also discussed.”
He explained, “Al-Shammari appreciated this visit,” expressing his hope that “there will be many understandings between the two neighboring countries to serve common interests and strengthen the bonds of cooperation in the security fields.”
For his part, the Turkish Minister of Defense praised “the great efforts made by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior in combating drugs and organized crime and enhancing security and stability in various regions of Iraq.”
