Today, Saturday, the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, discussed with the Interior Ministers of Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, joint mechanisms for confronting and combating the drug phenomenon.

A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, participated in the quadripartite meeting hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, for the interior ministers of Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, to discuss joint mechanisms for confronting and combating the drug phenomenon.”
The statement added, “The meeting came at the invitation of the Jordanian Minister of the Interior, Mazen Al-Farayeh, in the presence of the directors of drug affairs in these ministries. The activity of drug smuggling gangs within the region was reviewed and the mechanism of joint action and cooperation was discussed to confront the spread and smuggling of drugs and psychotropic substances.”
He continued, “The meeting reached a number of important decisions and recommendations that contribute to developing security cooperation between the four countries regarding combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.”
