Minister of Health Saleh Al-Hasnawi revealed details of the medical and health plan for the Ashura visit.
Al-Hasnawi said in a press conference held in the holy Karbala Governorate, attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the plan of the Ministry of Health implemented by the Karbala Governorate Health Department and its supporting departments, including the Ministry’s center and the Operations Directorate, is represented by several axes, the first of which is the preventive axis, which is represented by the presence of health awareness teams, as there are trained teams spread throughout the holy Karbala Governorate, raising awareness of what is represented by public health, hygiene, nutrition and health conditions, advising processions and providing them with advice and awareness.”
“The second axis is represented by health control teams that take samples of food and drinks provided to visitors and examine them in the public health laboratory and monitor them once from a physical perspective and once from a laboratory test perspective,” he added, while the other axis within public health is rapid response, as there are trained mobile teams that roam the governorate on foot carrying all first aid equipment. In the event that any visitor is exposed to any health crisis, these teams are fully prepared to respond quickly and provide first aid until he is transported by ambulance to the health centers designated to provide health services to visitors.”
He continued, “The other axis is the treatment services represented by the services in the city center, which are the services provided by the holy shrines to the emergency centers, in addition to the health centers of the Karbala Health Department, as they provide services sometimes emergency services and sometimes provide primary health care services spread throughout the governorate, managed by a medical, health and nursing staff, some of whom are from the Karbala Health Department and others from the health departments in Iraq and volunteers who came to Karbala to provide services.”
He pointed out that “the Ministry of Health hospitals, the shrine hospitals, and the private sector hospitals in Karbala Governorate are all ready to provide treatment services and are equipped with medicines, supplies, and medical equipment, in addition to emergency services and ambulances, represented by 100 ambulances distributed precisely on the visitation axes, on the path of the Tuwairij mourning procession, and at fixed points, in addition to another fleet outside the city ready for emergency cases.”
