The Ministry of Finance stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Minister of Finance Taif Sami Muhammad chaired today, Saturday, the second preparatory meeting of the Supreme Council for Women, in the presence of the Minister of Communications, the Minister of Immigration and Displacement, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Women’s Affairs, and the Director General of the Women’s Empowerment Department in the secretariat.” General Council of Ministers, where preparations for the convening of the Supreme Council for Women were discussed, which comes in implementation of Diwani Order No. 231035 on December 15, 2023, which it is hoped will be held in the coming days.
She added, “The Council takes it upon itself to enable Iraqi women to perform their political, economic, and cultural role in society, provide support and care for them, stop discrimination against them, and enhance their contribution to sustainable development, in addition to spreading the culture of protecting women, their better development, and their participation in project proposals and development plans.” Introducing national, regional and international bodies to the sacrifices made by Iraqi women over the past years.”
