Baghdad/NinaToday, Saturday, the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Muhammad, chaired the second preparatory meeting of the Supreme Council for Women, in the presence of the Minister of Communications, the Minister of Immigration and Displacement, the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Women’s Affairs, and the Director General of the Women’s Empowerment Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
The Ministry of Finance stated in a statement, “During the meeting, preparations for the convening of the Supreme Council for Women were discussed, which comes in implementation of Diwani Order No. 231035 on December 15, 2023, and which it is hoped will be held in the coming days.”
According to the statement, the Council takes it upon itself to enable Iraqi women to perform their political, economic and cultural role in society, provide support and care for them, stop discrimination against them, and enhance their contribution to sustainable development, in addition to spreading the culture of women’s protection and better development and their participation in project proposals and development plans, and defining National, regional and international bodies acknowledge the sacrifices made by Iraqi women over the past years./End 8
