The Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhel, directed to increase the share of energy in the holy city of Karbala during the month of Muharram.
A statement by the Ministry of Electricity received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, announced during his visit to the holy Karbala Governorate and his chairing of a meeting of the operations room formed for the purpose of following up on the supply during the days of Muharram Al-Haram, the increase in Karbala’s share of the supplied energy during the Muharram Al-Haram season, and the sending of about 200 transformers of different sizes, spare parts, equipment and specialized mechanisms to contribute to securing stable supply hours.
He added, “The Minister issued several directives to improve the quality of electricity in the holy cities, as follows:
Production sector:
– Increasing diesel power east of Karbala to supply the governorate with 150 megawatts.
– Karbala gas station is ready to supply the governorate with 160 megawatts.
– Al-Khairat station guarantees continued operation at a capacity of 750-800 megawatts.
Transport sector:
– Adding an autotransformer (250 MVA) to the Khairat gas station to eliminate bottlenecks and increase the energy transferred to the holy city of Kerila.
– Completion of the Karbala refinery-Karbala gas line, with a length of 10 km and an implementation period of 40 days, with the work to be completed on 7/20. The line will transfer energy from the refinery at a rate of about 80.
– 100 megawatts to Karbala during the visit.
Distribution sector:
– Equipping the distribution with 250 400 kV transformers.
– Preparing a 3*150 cable with a length of 25 km.
– Authorizing the Karbala Distribution Directorate to rent specialized equipment.
– Gradually increasing the governorate’s share of supplied energy.
