The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kazem, received the Secretary-General of the Arab Cities Organization, city secretaries, and municipal administration officials in Arab capitals during the Baghdad Municipality’s hosting of the 61st Executive Council meeting of the Arab Cities Organization, which is being held in Baghdad under the patronage of the Prime Minister.

A statement from the secretariat received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated, “The Mayor of Baghdad received delegations of sisterly Arab countries after their arrival at Baghdad International Airport to participate in the meeting of the 61st Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organization, which is being held in the capital, Baghdad, with the participation of (15) countries.”
He added, “The Mayor of Baghdad received the Secretary-General of the Arab Cities Organization, Mr. Abdul Rahman Hisham Al-Asfour, the Mayor of Amman from the Kingdom of Jordan, the Director of the Doha Municipality, the President of the Arab Cities Award Foundation from the State of Qatar, the Mayor of Beirut, and the Mayor of Tripoli from the State of Lebanon.”
He stated, “The Mayor of Baghdad also received the Governor of Alexandria from the State of Egypt, the Sudanese Minister of Health participating from the capital Khartoum, the Chairman of the Aleppo City Council from the State of Syria, and the Mayor of Halhul from the State of Palestine.”
He continued: “The mayor of Baghdad also received the mayor of the municipality of Tripoli from the state of Libya, as well as the person in charge of running the municipality of Tunis from the state of Tunisia, the mayor of the capital Mogadishu, the governor of the Benadir region from the state of (Somalia), and the mayor of Balous district, the capital from the state of Djibouti.”
He pointed out that “the meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Cities Organization, held this year in Baghdad and hosted by the Baghdad Municipality, will be held on the next 24 and 25/1/2024 to discuss the issues on its agenda that concern the participating Arab cities, in an important event taking place in the capital, Baghdad, after a break that lasted more than 35 years.”
