Baghdad/ Nina/ Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, confirmed that the judges’ belief in the principle of the rule of law is what preserved the security, safety and unity of Iraq.
Zidane said during the Iraqi Judiciary Day celebration: Our awareness of the importance of our role in establishing justice made us succeed in overcoming the challenges.
He added that the process of true independence of the judiciary began after 2003 and was completed on January 23, 2017, with the issuance of Supreme Judicial Council Law No. 45.
Zidane explained that the independence of the judiciary is the most important achievement that we dreamed of, because judges are obsessed with applying the law far from any influence.
Zidane said: We pledge to our people to apply the constitution and the law impartially and to stand at the same distance from all litigants.
Judge Zidane stressed the endeavor to develop the judicial system through developing the infrastructure and developing the scientific and technical capabilities of the judicial cadres./End 2
