The Japanese national team opened the scoring in the 28th minute through its player Hidemasa Morita, but Mohamed Mohibi equalized the score for the Iranian national team in the 55th minute of the match.
In the 90th minute of the match, Ali Reza Jahanbakhsh scored the winning goal for Iran via a penalty kick that he successfully executed.
With this victory, the Iranian team qualified for the semi-finals of the Asian Cup to meet the winner of the Qatar-Uzbekistan match.
