Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani confirmed today, Wednesday, that his country insists on resolving the issue of the Arash-Dorra gas field with Kuwait through dialogue and based on previous expert negotiations.
The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported, “Kanaani said in response to the final statement of the Emir of Kuwait’s visit to Bahrain, which included the issue of the Arash field: The Islamic Republic of Iran always emphasizes resolving the issue of the (Arash) field through dialogue and on the basis of previous negotiations of experts, and believes that it is possible to reach a solution.” To reach an agreement in this regard in an atmosphere of cooperation and respect for common interests.”
He added, “There is no doubt that making unilateral allegations in various statements and media outlets cannot be considered a step forward to resolve this issue.”
Kanaani stressed the principle of good neighborliness and the policy of strengthening relations with neighbors, declaring Iran’s readiness once again to continue negotiations in a friendly and practical atmosphere with the aim of reaching an agreed upon solution.
