The Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, confirmed today, Friday, the return of flows of agreed-upon natural quantities of gas to Iraq after the end of the maintenance period.
Al Sadiq said, in a statement to the official news agency, followed by Al-Rasheed, that “Iran always supports Iraq in the energy file and provides its services, whether through exported gas or directly exporting electricity.”
He added, “Recently, Iran carried out annual maintenance operations on the gas pipelines used to export it to Iraq, and there was a decline in the flows, but they were not completely interrupted, and the flows returned to their previous normal.”
He continued, “There is an agreement with Iraq stipulating the export of 50-40 million cubic meters of gas to operate power stations, which is what Tehran is working on. We confirm that next summer will witness an increase in gas flowing to Iraq.”
