Today, Monday, the Ministry of Interior announced its special plan for the year 2024 to combat drugs, indicating that the plan has three axes.
Ministry spokesman Miqdad Miri told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry of Interior has developed several plans related to drugs that will be implemented during 2024, starting with combating their trade and prosecuting all of their promoters, in addition to supporting the General Directorate of Drug Control, preparing it with weapons, and expanding its work and procedures, in addition to Increasing the number of clinics.
Merry added, “The number of those arrested during the year 2023 alone in the General Directorate for Narcotics Control reached approximately 14,000, while the remaining numbers in the Ministry of Interior as a whole exceeded 19,000 detainees under the custody of the General Directorate for Narcotics Control.”
