Najaf Ashraf – IEA – Haider Farman
The General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali in Najaf Governorate announced today, Saturday, the completion of all preparations for the night of the tenth of Muharram.
The Assistant Head of the Service Affairs Department, Haider Al-Issawi, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Service Affairs Department has prepared an integrated service plan to support the mourning processions throughout the first ten days of the month of Muharram,” noting that “the plan includes removing the carpet from around the Holy Shrine and re-covering it with (nylon and red carpet) in preparation for receiving the mourning processions from the seventh to the tenth day of the month of Muharram.”
He added, “The estimated area for the red carpet is 25 thousand square meters.”
He added, “There is a special plan to support the mourning Husseini processions in the old city, which includes providing drinking water and cleaning materials, as they reached more than 100 processions around the holy shrine, in addition to the roads leading to the holy upper shrine,” noting that “the processions were equipped with air coolers, containers, waste bags, and some other requirements, in addition to placing health groups and opening them to serve visitors. There is a plan to support the Najaf Health Department by opening medical centers around the holy shrine, by providing logistical matters such as carpets, air coolers, and service cadres to support cleaning operations during the visit period.”
He pointed out that “there is another plan to coordinate with the Husseini Processions Authority at the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali, as well as the Engineering Affairs Department, to prepare a place to hold the torch ritual. The carpets will be raised, the materials (sand and nylon) will be placed, and it will be equipped with air coolers to moderate the atmosphere to receive the processions and perform the torch ritual.”
